ANICA is the association which represents the Italian film and audiovisual multimedia industries when deadling with political institutions, in trade union negotiations and establishing relationships with the key players in the promotion of the film and audiovisual sector in Italy and abroad.

Historically, the Association has three sections: Producers, Distributors and Technical and Audiovisual Companies; Cartoon Italia (National Association of Animation Producers), and UNEFA (National Union of Film and Audiovisual Exporters) are all adherents of ANICA.

Since May 2019, with the creation of the Cinema, Audiovisual and Digital Council, the Association has opened up to new production realities: technical enterprises supplying services, creators of digital content and promoters of talents, independent original producers who develop new formats, publishers of specialized audiovisual content, such as thematic channels, called to invest in works of original Italian expression.

ANICA is a member of Confindustria and adheres to Confindustria Cultura Italia.

As representative of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Italy, ANICA selects the Italian Oscar candidate for the best foreign film.

The Association is also a founding member of the Academy of Italian Cinema – David di Donatello Awards, which annually assigns the awards for Italian Cinema.

ANICA is a permanent member of FAPAV, Federation for the Protection of Audiovisual and Multimedia Content.

ANICA, through its subsidiary ANICA Servizi srl, supports the companies with various activities in the field of promotion and manages the funds of Copia Privata as the most representative Association in the cinema sector.

ANICA, in collaboration with the General Directorate of MiC, has developed an office to illustrate the key points of the Italian tax credit law and provide companies with the tools to access the related benefits, as well as giving information on all other forms of financing to the cinema, both national and local.

Since its foundation, ANICA has promoted Italian cinema at the major international markets and film festivals, in collaboration with the DGCA of MiC. In recent years, the Association has launched several projects to promote the circulation of films and the internationalization of the Italian product with the Ministry for Economic Development and with ICE. With this aim, together with the Association of TV Producers APA, with the support of the Ministry for Economic Development, the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, ICE – Italian Trade Agency and Lazio Region, ANICA has created the MIA , International Audiovisual Market, which takes place in autumn in Rome.
