The international tax credit was introduced to attract foreign investments and has achieved the goal of restoring Italy as a key player on the international stage, as demonstrated by the quantity and quality of international productions that have chosen to film in Italy. The benefits for Italy as a whole have been significant, in terms of employment, professional growth, positive spillover effects on local areas and tourism, as well as the multiplier effect on generated income and resulting tax revenue. Fifteen years after its introduction, it is time to reflect on the rules of the international tax credit to achieve the best balance between sustainability, stability, and competitiveness for our country.
