Press conference launching the seventh edition of the Matera International Film Festival 2026, the first global arts festival of Matera, taking place from September 26 to October 4, 2026.
The festival will feature screenings of feature films, short films, documentaries, and animation, alongside workshops, panels, and educational activities for emerging international film talents. The theme of the 2026 edition, “Mediterranean, Mirror of the World,” invites reflection on the Mediterranean as a place of dialogue, memory, and cultural exchange. Among the major new initiatives is MAMA, the new international film market dedicated to emerging filmmakers and independent projects.
