A platform for films, audiences, and talent.
Over the past five years, Palatine has built in France a unique platform for Italian cinema through a network of connected projects –
Dolcevita-sur-Seine, Prix Palatine, Ristretto and the Italian Screens Gala events – bringing Italian films into cinemas, public spaces, schools, festivals and professional settings. Since 2022, these initiatives have mobilised more than 140 films and film programmes and generated over 130,000 cumulative attendances. Over time, they have also built something less measurable but just as decisive: a community of spectators, students, professionals and partners around Italian cinema in France.
This presentation takes stock of Palatine’s first five years and opens the next phase. It highlights an ecosystem in which heritage, contemporary cinema, audience development, emerging talent and professional relations are held together. It also looks ahead: towards growth on a European scale, a special edition of Dolcevita for the 70th anniversary of the twinning, and the possibility of developing an in-house distribution activity for young Italian cinema. This work has also been made possible by the building of a young team with strong expertise in Italian cinema, able to work across France and Italy and to articulate artistic creation, programming, communication, cultural mediation, film presentation and professional guidance, in constant dialogue with strong institutional support.
