SHEDDING LIGHT ON AN INVISIBLE DISEASE. TRUE SPIRIT, THE STORY OF ALESSANDRO GATTAFONI

In Italy, an estimated 6,000 people live with cystic fibrosis. Each year, around 200 new cases are reported, with an incidence of approximately 1 in every 2,500-3,000 births, according to data from the Italian Cystic Fibrosis Registry.

With the event Shedding Light on an Invisible Disease, the Italian Cystic Fibrosis League (LIFC), for the first time within the institutional setting of the Italian Pavilion, presents the short film ALESSANDRO GATTAFONI: TRUE SPIRIT (3 minutes). This moving story follows a disabled athlete and sailor who, with his indomitable willpower, faces cystic fibrosis and takes on extraordinary challenges in a kayak. Following the screening, a discussion will raise awareness about the fight against genetic mutation, bridging the gap between the scientific community and the world of cinematic entertainment.
