SIGNIS, the World Catholic Association for Communication, started in 2001 with the merger of UNDA (International Catholic Association for Radio and Television) and OCIC (International Catholic Organization for Cinema and Audio-visual), in activity since to 1928. With members in over 100 countries, SIGNIS brings together cinema, radio, television, media education, Internet and new technology. It has juries in about 40 international festivals: Venice (since 1948), Berlin, Cannes, Monte-Carlo, Buenos Aires and Havana.
Founded in 1955 by delegates of Protestant film associations in Europe, INTERFILM actually embraces also Orthodox, Anglican, and Jewish members, also non-European, individuals as well as institutions. It participates in dozens of Film Festivals, both with protestant juries (in Venice since 2011) and ecumenical juris in friendly partnership with Signis Cinema.
