Organized by DGCA-MiC, in collaboration with the British Film Institute.

Like Italy, The UK is one of the largest audiovisual markets in the world with abundance of on-screen and behind-camera talent, first class facilities and infrastructure, strong public support system of subsidies and incentives and access to global distribution markets.  Both countries are signatories of the Council of Europe co-production convention. There is a new generation of UK’s producers who are keen to collaborate with international partners on projects that have a potential to reach audiences globally and the number of co-productions with the UK has been on the rise.  Our cultural ties mean that there must be a wealth of compelling stories we can tell together on screen.  Come and find out about the opportunities of co-producing with the UK, including public funding sources, ways to find a UK partner, practical tips on working with the UK post-Brexit and much more.

Agnieszka Moody, Head of International Relations at the British Film Institute will give a presentation on these topics and then discuss the reality of co-production with UK’s most prolific co-producer, Ken Loach’s producing partner Rebecca O’Brien who is launching Harvest in competition in Venice this year. A UK/France/Germany/Greece/Italy co-production directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari follows the villagers’ reaction to three newcomers, who become scapegoats in a time of economic turmoil.
