Closed-door roundtable Italy-France

Embassy of France in Italy

After the success, last January, of the Parisian event De Rome à Paris-Italian Screens, with a full immersion of professional meetings between Italian and French producers, distributors, and sellers, Rome confirms itself as the ideal stage to further strengthen the important and fruitful collaboration between CNC (Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée) and Unifrance with DGCA-MiC (Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture) and Cinecittà. A partnership that reflects the excellent state of health of co-productions between France and Italy and a 2024 year that promises to be full of novelties.

The annual roundtable among industry professionals at the French Embassy in Italy on the occasion of the fourteenth edition of the French film festival Rendez-Vous returns from 3 to 7 April, 2024. A meeting, behind closed doors, organized in synergy by Unifrance, the Embassy of France and Cinecittà for DGCA-MiC, enabling Italian and French audiovisual professionals to exchange data and information, delve into measures and tools adopted by the two countries, investigate critical issues and decline common strategies.

At the opening of the proceedings, Martin Briens, Ambassador of France to Italy, with him Daniela Elstner, Director General of Unifrance, and Roberto Stabile, Head of Special Projects of the DGCA-MiC at Cinecittà will introduce their respective delegations and announce upcoming events.

This year, the topics discussed will range from policies and strategies for the revitalization of theaters, to distribution methods, from production with and for platforms, to the qualitative increase of co-productions between Italy and France.

Speakers on the French side will be: Sophie Loyrette – CNC; Fabrice Goldstein – Karé; Alexandre Gavras – KG; Alice Bloch – Marianne Productions; Carole Lambert – Windy Productions; Mathieu Verhaeghe – Atelier de Production; Marc Missonnier – Moana Films, UPC; Céline Chapdaniel – Koro Films; Olivier Delbosc – Curiosa; on the Italian side: Carlotta Calori – Indigo; Francesca Cualbu – Grøenlandia; Luigi Lonigro – 01 Distribution; Federica Lucisano – Italian International Film; Davide Novelli – CINETEL; Andrea Occhipinti – Lucky Red.

The event is part of the increasingly close collaborations between the institutions of the two countries, aimed at fostering exchanges between audiovisual professionals and the development of common policies. The high number of French-Italian co-productions and the willingness of the participants to initiate shared strategies are further proof of the closeness between France and Italy.
