DE ROME À PARIS

On January 22nd, on the Champs Elysées, the GALA ITALIAN SCREENS welcomes the new year with the French premiere screening of CINQUE SECONDI directed by Paolo Virzì. The special event, organized by the International Department of Cinecittà, as part of its activities on behalf of the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Italian Ministry of Culture, serves as a prelude to the professional meetings between Italian and French producers, sales agents, and distributors, De Rome à Paris, scheduled for Friday, January 23rd.

The evening at the Publicis cinema (7:30 PM) will feature guest of honor Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, who will engage in a conversation with the audience. For tickets, click here.

An intimate and ironic work, “Cinque secondi” highlights Italian cinema’s ability to reinvent itself, engage with the present, and remain deeply plural.

SYNOPSIS

In an isolated Tuscany valley, Adriano, a 50-year-old man haunted by a troubled past, lives alone in the renovated stables of a crumbling villa. Suddenly, a group of young idealists, led by Matilde, take over the empty villa, hoping to restore its long-abandoned vineyards. Though initially annoyed, Adriano gradually finds himself drawn to this lively community. But beneath the surface of this fragile harmony, old tensions and buried secrets begin to resurface. What is the heavy burden Adriano is trying so hard to conceal, and why does the manor awaken his darkest memories?
