FILMART

Hong Kong Trade Development Council

Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), FILMART (from 17 to 20 March 2025) represents the largest Asian market for audiovisual content (film, TV, digital entertainment) and one of the leading global events, with over 800 exhibitors from 35 countries and around 8,000 visitors annually.

Italy will be represented by a significant delegation of sales and production companies, organized and coordinated through the collaboration between Italian Trade Agency for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and Cinecittà for the General Directorate of Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture (DGCA-MiC).

To discover the latest Italian productions or projects in development, appointments can be made at the Italian Pavilion 1D B14, which will host 13 companies, along with delegates from Italian Trade Agency and Cinecittà.

FILMART features a rich program of conferences, screenings, and networking events, as well as the concurrent HAF – The Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum.

HAF is an initiative dedicated to feature film projects in the early or advanced stages of development, seeking partners and financiers. This year, Italy is participating with a co-production project with Malaysia and Hong Kong, Mother Bhumi by Chong Keat Aun.

The film will revisit some themes from the director’s previous work, such as the deep connection to black magic and rural beliefs in the Asian countryside, and will explore a unique female character at the crossroads of religion, superstition, and Asian mythology.

Among the cast is Chinese star Fan Bingbing (recently seen in Green Night, The King’s Daughter, and The 355).

Producing for Italy is Stefano Centini with his company Volos Films Italia.
