SOFIA

The ITALIAN SCREENS initiative is making another stop in Sofia for the tenth edition of the Cinelibri International Literary Film Festival, taking place from October 10 to November 3.

Thanks to the support of the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Cinecittà, the Italian Cultural Institute, and the Italian Embassy in Sofia, this year’s Cinelibri will present a rich and diverse program featuring seven recent and successful films: Romeo è Giulietta (Romeo is Juliet) by Giovanni Veronesi; La vita accanto (The Life Apart) by Marco Tullio Giordana; Eterno visionario (Eternal Visionary) by Michele Placido; The Opera! – Arie per un’eclissi (The Opera!) by Davide Livermore and Paolo Gep Cucco; Diva Futura by Giulia Louise Steigerwalt; Iddu (Sicilian Letters) by Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia; and lastly, Confidenza (Trust), with the presence of director Daniele Luchetti.

Cinelibri is an international film festival held in Bulgaria. It offers a cross-genre artistic experience, thanks to its original concept of connecting cinema and literature. Cinelibri is independent and unique in its design and concept, as it is the only film festival to select and showcase films inspired by literary works, whether contemporary, modern, or classic. Each year, the festival presents around 60 films in national premieres and promotes industry meetings, pitching sessions, conferences, workshops, and masterclasses.
