4 – 6 July 2024
TUNIS
From 26 June to 6 July, the “IN SITU – TUNISI” Festival of Creativity will be organised by the Italian Embassy in Tunisia in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and in synergy with various Italian institutions, artists and companies. For ten days, the event will promote initiatives bringing vibrant energy to the streets and cultural life of Tunis, showcasing Italian architecture, design, cinema, theatre, visual arts, history, archaeology and crafts, as well as Italy’s ability to combine tradition and innovation in close coordination with Tunisia.
Cinema will be the star of the Festival with the “Italian Screens – New Italian Cinema in Tunis” initiative. From 4 to 6 July, Tunisian audiences will have the opportunity to attend screenings at MadArt cinema in Carthage of four of the major Italian films of the last season, representing different film genres. Director Paolo Genovese (Perfect strangers, Neapolitan Spell, The Lions of Sicily) will introduce “Il primo giorno della mia vita” (The First Day of My Life) on 4 July, a drama exploring delicate topics such as existence and human relations featuring an all-star cast (Toni Servillo, Valerio Mastandrea and Margherita Buy). The Festival will continue with screenings of Alice Rohrwacher’s “La Chimera” on 5 July, a beautiful film much appreciated by critics and the audience, “Maria e lo spirito di mezzanotte” (A Greyhound of a Girl) on 6 July, a great example of Italian animated cinema, and “Gloria!” by Margherita Vicario released only a few weeks ago in Italy.
Italian Screens is a project promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture, organised by Cinecittà.
