Italian Screens – New Italian Cinema in Tirana returns once again to the vibrant Albanian capital, bringing a selection of contemporary Italian films.
From March 12 to 16, the prestigious Millennium Cinema will open its doors to film enthusiasts, offering an exceptionally rich and diverse program designed to captivate a wide range of tastes. The festival will take Albanian audiences on an emotional journey through the stories, landscapes, and atmospheres of the latest Italian cinema.
This year’s edition features six carefully selected films, each representing unique settings, genres, and themes, showcasing the versatility and creativity of today’s Italian filmmakers.
The opening film is Gloria!, the compelling work of Margherita Vicario, a vibrant blend of music, energy, and youthful rebellion.
Next is La bicicletta di Bartali (Bartali’s Bycicle), directed by Enrico Paolantonio, a film that not only celebrates sports but also the values of courage and resilience embodied by the legendary Italian cyclist.
The cinematic journey continues with Il tempo che ci vuole (The Time It Takes), in which Francesca Comencini delicately and profoundly explores human relationships and how time shapes our connections.
Strong emotions await in Ciao bambino by Edgardo Pistone, a powerful and moving film that leaves a lasting impact on viewers.
Then comes the magical and passionate touch of Ferzan Özpetek with Diamanti (Diamonds), a story weaving together the affections and friendships of strong female characters.
Finally, the poetic and mysterious dream of Alice Rohrwacher’s La Chimera transports audiences into a world suspended between reality and fairy tale, with refined direction and an unforgettable atmosphere.






Additionally, on the occasion of National Made in Italy Day, the University of Arts in Tirana will host an exclusive masterclass led by two prominent figures: Enrico Palantonio, director of La bicicletta di Bartali, and Pasquale Di Viccaro, a digital special effects expert known for his work on films such as Il tempo che ci vuole. The event will provide students and industry professionals with a unique opportunity to delve into animation techniques and digital visual effects, exploring the latest innovations and trade secrets straight from leading figures in the film industry.
