From June 17 to 22, 2025, Cinéma L’Agora in La Marsa (Tunis) will host Italian Screens – Le nouveau cinéma italien à Tunis, a showcase dedicated to the best of contemporary Italian cinema.
This initiative is part of the eighth edition of “Fare Cinema”, a program promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote Italian cinema worldwide.
The Tunisian stop represents an important opportunity for dialogue between Italy and Tunisia, featuring a selection of films that reflect the diversity, creativity, and vitality of new Italian cinema—balancing auteur vision, social themes, and bold stylistic experimentation. The program also includes a focus on Italian-Tunisian co-productions, aiming to highlight shared experiences and encourage new collaborations.
Highlights of the event include:
- Opening night on June 17 at 7 PM with the film Madly by Paolo Genovese.
- Roundtable discussion on co-productions and the audiovisual industry (June 18 at 10 AM, Tahar Chériaa screening room).
- Film screenings:
Breath by Ilaria Congiu (with the director in attendance) – Wednesday at 6 PM.
Asfour Jenna by Mourad Ben Cheikh – Wednesday at 10 PM.
Weightless by Sara Fgaier (with the director in attendance) – Thursday at 6:30 PM.
Diamonds by Ferzan Özpetek – Friday at 6 PM.
Vermiglio by Maura Delpero – Saturday at 6:30 PM.
The Time It Takes by Francesca Comencini – Sunday at 6:30 PM.
All screenings will be in the original language with French subtitles.
