TOKYO INTERNATIONAL
FILM FESTIVAL

29 – 31 October 2025
TIFFCOM

TIFFCOM returns to the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center from October 29th to 31st, featuring a rich program of events and the Gap Financing Market. This platform is dedicated to feature film projects in the advanced financing stage – with at least 60% of their budget already secured and containing Asian elements – and offers opportunities for one-to-one meetings with industry professionals. Selected projects traditionally come from Southeast Asia, alongside a few European countries.

In this context, Italy confirms its prominent position among host nations, strengthened by the film co-production agreement with Japan that came into effect last year. The Italian delegation brings three projects to TGFM: the film Tokyo Express by Eros Puglielli for Be Water Film; I Have to Fuck Before the World Ends by Andrea Benjamin Manenti for Volos Films Italia; and the animated Copperbeak by Adriano Candiago, Giorgio Scorza, and Davide Rosio for Movimenti Production. The participation is organized by the International Department of Cinecittà for the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Ministry of Culture.

The Italian presence also extends to the competitive section of the Tokyo International Film Festival, with two co-produced films selected. These are Heads or Tails? by Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zoppis – already presented in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival – produced by Ring Film and Cinema Inutile with Rai Cinema, in association with Andromeda Film and Cinemaundici and in collaboration with Volos Films Italia (foreign sales: Rai Cinema International Distribution); and Mother Bhumi by Chong Keat Aun co-produced by Janji Pictures Production, Volos Films Italia, and Southern Islet Pictures, with the support of Finas (Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum) and the Red Sea Fund (foreign sales: Rediance).

The two films will compete alongside thirteen other titles for seven awards, under the jury presidency of Carlo Chatrian.
